FAQ
Prices, scores and what we leave out.
Short answers. The longer version, with licences, is the methodology.
Where do the prices come from?
Model list prices come from models.dev (MIT) and, where we show a move, from ModelPriceWatch (CC-BY-4.0). Consumer plan prices are dollar amounts copied from the official pricing HTML, and only when that HTML states a monthly price.
Where do the benchmark scores come from?
Independent scores are from Epoch AI and the LMArena leaderboard dataset, both CC-BY-4.0, and from LiveBench. A vendor-reported score is labeled as such and is not mixed into an independent ranking. The methodology page names each source.
Why is a model missing from a board?
A board lists a model only when that test has a score for it, and only when the test has at least three independent results. A model with no published score on that test is left off.
Why is a plan missing from the price table?
The price table keeps a product when the fetched pricing page states a monthly dollar amount. Annual-only figures and first-month discounts are not used as the monthly headline, so those products are left out of the price view.
Do you run your own speed tests?
Not on the public site. There is no speed or latency column, because this snapshot has no licensed latency series and our own probes have not produced a public result.
Is PowerfulBot free?
Yes. Reading the index, the learner pages and the calculator does not require an account or a payment.
How do alerts work?
Watch price saves a model in this browser. If you add an email, the site records a double opt-in request. The sender is off, so no message goes out. A later confirm link would turn alerts on, and every note would include an unsubscribe link.
What is the value index?
It ranks models that sit at or above the median Arena rating. Seventy percent of the score is quality position between that floor and the leader. Thirty percent is log-price affordability. One hundred is the median of that set. The full write-up is on the methodology page.
